Boca Ciega Point is another large over-55 community located near Madeira Beach off of Duhme Rd(113th St. N) just a half mile or less north of Sea Towers. The construction of Sea Towers began in 1969 around five fingers of land that project out into Boca Ciega Bay. It was the first community in the Tampa Bay area to offer what the developer called "patio homes" or villas. The concept was to combine the convenience of condominium with some of the privacy and one story nature of most single family homes. Most of the villas have their own private boat docks, and Boca Ciega Point bills itself as "a boating community. Boca Ciega Point is a gated community with a guardhouse that operates 24/7 at the entrance.
In contrast to the high-rise towers of Sea Towers that rise not far away, the majority of Boca Ciega Point's residences are one-story story villas. Many of the 317 villas have own private, deeded boat docks. Some villas are two bedroom, 2 baths while some others are three bedrooms and three baths. Prices in November 2016 listed on the Mid Florida MLS range from about $235,000 for 2 bedroom, 2 baths without a dock to $450,000 for an updated unit of the same size with an especially large dock complete with electric boat lift. You can expect to pay about $350,000 presently for a typical 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa with its own dock. All villas include one and two-car attached garages, and most--the more expensive ones generally-- have their own private deeded boat dock. There is one condominium building at Boca Ciega Point with an additional 48 one and two bedroom units on several floors. Resale prices for these condominium units probably run in the low-$90 thousands though there are none listed right now.
All residents have easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway and the nearby Gulf of Mexico. As one might expect, boating is a very popular activity among many Boca Ciega Point residents. Keep in mind, however, that the one story villas located just steps above the water
could well be in harm's way should a hurricane
hit this area.
There is a Boca Ciega Social Club that organizes activities ranging from informal coffee gatherings by the pool on Saturday mornings to organized yoga, ladies bridge, poker, and tennis.
The recreational amenities include a swimming pool, sauna, tennis courts, shuffleboard, boccie, 9-hole putting green, fitness room, and a library as well as special rooms for card playing in the clubhouse. Small pets are generally allowed although each of the many different associations may have varying specifications as to type and weight.

Those who love beautiful, white sandy beaches will also appreciate that the beautiful Gulf shore at Madeira Beach's Archibald Park is but a mile and a half away. There is convenient shopping within a mile though public transportation is pretty scarce in this area.
