Mainlands of Tamarac is a 55+ community of 1937 residences centrally located off US 19-N in Pinellas Park. It was constructed in stages between 1970 and 1980. Mainlands is situated about 12 miles north of downtown St Petersburg, just a few miles from the two major bridges to Tampa.
1827 of the individual residences are detached single family homes, and the remaining 110 are villas. There are seven different areas in the community, each with its own HOA and separate finances. There is a master association as well that oversees the entire complex. Recreational facilities such as club houses and pools with a varied list of resident activities exist in each of the seven areas. Mainlands of Tamarac is one of the relatively few moderately priced communities in Pinellas County that has it own Par 67 Florida Links style golf course.

Possible Concerns:
- Main road (US 19-N) subject to traffic jams at certain times.
- Some distance (and often a lot of traffic) from beaches
- To some it seems an architecturally "plain vanilla" community not softened sufficiently by substantial vegetation.
